January 2014
The 2013 season was a positive one for
armwrestling in Nova Scotia. Entries were up across the
board. Our finances are looking more positive. We are seeing
many new pullers enter the sport.
One of the most exciting things was the return of ladies
armwrestling. We've always had ladies armwrestling but not
in the numbers we are now experiencing. Hopefully we will
have enough regulars to have 2 classes in the near future.
On the Canadian front there will be many changes for the
2014 Nationals. There was a complete overhaul of the
weight classes. Triple elimination will be instituted for
the open classes. Also the elbow fouls have been modified to
allow for slight bumps as long as it's in the neutral
position and or the competitor doesn't gain an advantage.
Pat McGeoghegan will be hosting the 2014 Nationals in PEI.
These will be held in Charlottetown the May long weekend,
16-18.
