The first tournament of the year started out with plenty of excitement as we saw many new faces enter the sport. A large contingent from the Kennetcook area were enthusiastic in their support of their friends. Kevin Brennan of Brookfield, Randy Bayers of Ship Harbour and Mark MacPhail were all double winners on the day taking the right and left hand classes in their respective classes. However Randy’s twin brother Ralpie Bayers was the story of the day. The 2009 Rookie of the Year became giant killer as he knocked off Shaun Deveau with both arms, Charlie McGeoghegan’s left and almost his right, then nearly beat Mark MacPhail.
The strong Hand Hold proved to be a popular event drawing 16 competitors. Chris Ellis of Meaghers Grant beat out Mark MacPhail by 2/100 of a second to take first place.
